About

AltaSea’s annual fundraiser, Blue Hour, is an immersive culinary and cultural experience that brings together world-renowned chefs, ocean advocates, and changemakers to reimagine how food can protect our planet.

This year, Emmy Award–winning chef, writer, and global cultural ambassador Andrew Zimmern will headline the evening with a live cooking and tasting experience featuring sustainable seafood, sea vegetables, and alternative ocean proteins. Known for using food as a bridge between cultures, Zimmern champions responsible sourcing, ocean health, and the preservation of culinary traditions rooted in coastal communities around the world.

Joining Zimmern are acclaimed chefs Dustin J. Trani and Chris Cosentino, whose work reflects a shared commitment to sustainability and the future of our food systems. A fourth-generation chef and owner of Trani’s Dockside Station in San Pedro, Trani continues his family’s century-long culinary legacy by showcasing locally sourced, sustainable seafood just steps from AltaSea and the Port of Los Angeles. Award-winning chef, author, and sustainability advocate Chris Cosentino is celebrated for his bold approach to cooking and his leadership in responsible sourcing, waste reduction, and climate-conscious cuisine. Through his acclaimed restaurants, James Beard Award–nominated cookbook Offal Good, and documentary series Feast or Famine: Climate on the Table, Cosentino explores how food can drive meaningful environmental change.

Together with 7–10 acclaimed chefs, they will present signature bites that celebrate blue foods, regenerative practices, and eco-conscious sourcing. Each dish tells part of a larger story—connecting flavor, science, culture, and innovation while advancing AltaSea’s mission to accelerate ocean-based solutions for climate resilience, food security, and a thriving blue economy.
