After several years laying the groundwork, San Pedro’s long-anticipated AltaSea marine research center is about to move into the spotlight.
Architectural designs for the campus were unveiled at a reception dubbed “Transformation” last week in downtown Los Angeles by Gensler, a global architecture, design and planning firm working on the project.
And it was announced that esteemed marine archeologist Robert Ballard, the scientist who discovered the sunken RMS Titanic in 1985, will bring his exploration/research vessel Nautilus to AltaSea beginning this July in a preview visit.
