雖然地球表面有70%的面積被海洋所覆蓋,但其中只有5%資源已被開發,大量海洋資源仍然需時探索,不過近年來污染加劇、過度捕魚及溫室效應等問題正一步步改變海洋的命運。周一於洛杉磯港口聖佩德羅(San Pedro)舉行動土儀式的AltaSea,公私營機構合共斥資1.35億美元(約10.53億港元),興建藍色經濟企業孵化器,希望支援以海洋科技為主的初創企業。 駐洛杉磯記者:張紫茵 洛杉磯港口為美國第一大港口,為美國進出口業的命脈所在,而最新動土的藍色經濟企業孵化器AltaSea就設於港口57至60號泊位,佔地40萬呎的場地將會集合海洋科技實驗室、教育城、企業孵化器及小社區,主要針對海洋可持續性的解決方案及藍色經濟。料項目會帶來4,200個臨時職位,1,350個長期工作機會,每年可促進2.9億美元(約22.6億港元)的經濟活動。 洛杉磯市市長加爾塞特(Eric Garcetti)出席動土式時表示,當初在文藝區(Art District)興建潔淨能源企業孵化器(LA Cleantech Incubator)時引起相當大爭議,因為要動用到公帑去資助項目,後來LACI成為首屈一指的企業孵化器,孕育出針對溫室效應的綠色能源相關企業,他相信AltaSea亦能夠創出傳奇,孵化及推廣海洋科技。 AltaSea整個計劃將會分多階段進行,行政主席克魯澤(Jenny Krusoe)表示,單是第一期將會分3部份興建,將於2022年竣工,投資額高達1.35億美元(約10.53億港元),由多個基金、政府、個人捐款聯合出資。 負責聖佩德羅的第15區市議員巴西諾(Joe Buscaino)指,AltaSea是專為海洋科技而設的企業孵化器,現時港口過度捕魚情況嚴重,AltaSea將會集合海洋研究人員及教育者以可持續性的方法發掘珍貴的海洋資源,同時亦希望吸引更多從事海洋科技的初創公司落戶在洛杉磯港口。 https://hk.news.appledaily.com/international/daily/article/20171213/20243421
