Dynamic Education’s Outdoor Classroom at AltaSea to Provide Hands-On Trade Training to Underserved Youth

Los Angeles, Calif. (January 23, 2025) – AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles, the nation’s leading hub for the blue economy, today announced that Dynamic Education, a skilled trade training provider, has joined its growing roster of tenants. Dynamic Education will build out a 4,000 square foot outdoor classroom to provide semester-long courses to students from across Los Angeles to teach them trade skills including welding, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and solar. The first series of classes will begin on January 25.

Headquartered in San Pedro, Dynamic Education works with thousands of socio-economically challenged youth to provide skilled trades training in industries such as marine welding, marine engineering, nautical navigation, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and solar. Founded in 2013, Dynamic Education partners with schools, organizations, and businesses across California to ensure that young people have access to the education they deserve. The new classroom at AltaSea enables Dynamic Education to double the number of students they teach each semester.

“We are thrilled to have our new outdoor classroom at AltaSea, which provides a unique and ideal environment for our students to learn and grow. AltaSea’s location and waterfront access will allow our students to make the invaluable connection between classroom theory and real-world application,” said Anthony DeSanto, founder and CEO of Dynamic Education.

Dynamic Education’s first series of classes at AltaSea will bring students from the Boys and Girls Club of the Los Angeles Harbor, Port of Los Angeles High School (POLAHS), and Watts-based Jordan Downs Center. Upon completion of the semester-long program, students receive high-value, industry-based credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER). In the past four years, 72 POLAHS students earned certifications from AWS and NCCER.

“A large part of AltaSea’s mission is to ensure our next generation have the skills necessary to thrive in the evolving blue economy,” said Terry Tamminen, president and CEO of AltaSea. “Dynamic Education’s commitment to hands-on learning and trade skills development is critical to cultivate a workforce ready for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow. We are proud to welcome them to our growing campus and look forward to the positive impacts it will have on our community.”
