Event Program

Blue Hour connects science, culture, and community by combining art and technology to tell the story of the emerging Blue Economy.
Blue Hour 3: The Warehouse will celebrate the ocean through various art installations spread throughout Berth 60 – a 60,000 square foot warehouse – on the AltaSea campus.
With over a dozen artists and organizations participating, this year’s event also exemplifies STEAM education for students of all ages, showcasing artists and art schools exploring some of the same issues as the scientists and college labs featured at AltaSea.

Famed oceanographer Sylvia Earle – the first person to walk solo on the bottom of the sea – to receive Explorer Award.
AltaSea Board Member Cynthia Hirschhorn and artist Annie Sperling have curated a night that will reflect on humankind’s relationship with the sea and its critical role in combating climate change.
The night will also feature the involvement of our community partner, Angels Gate Cultural Center.
AltaSea will also take a moment to honor our champions – those who have gone the extra mile to help with AltaSea’s success. These champions include:
