DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday April 18\, 2026\, for an exciting Open House event at AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles!\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nJoin us for an exciting and inspiring Open House on Saturday\, April 18\, 2026\, featuring a dynamic three-part program designed to engage\, inform\, and celebrate our community. From deep-sea exploration to career discovery and student recognition\, this event offers something for everyone. \nThe program begins with a keynote presentation by Megan Cook\, Director of Outreach and Media at Ocean Exploration Trust. In her talk\, “Ocean Exploration for Everyone\,” Megan will share lessons learned and recent discoveries from some of the deepest\, most mysterious parts of our planet. As a leading science communicator\, Megan has participated in more than 35 deep-sea expeditions and helped bring the excitement of nearly 130 research cruises to global audiences. Her work connects people of all backgrounds to ocean exploration through storytelling\, education\, and inclusive outreach. With experience spanning from tropical reefs to Antarctica’s icy seafloor\, Megan brings a unique perspective on exploration\, conservation\, and the power of discovery. \n  \n \n  \nFollowing the keynote\, students and attendees are invited to participate in Career Day. Meet with our on-site partners\, learn about a variety of professions\, and explore potential career pathways. This is a great opportunity to ask questions\, make connections\, and gain insight into industries you may be passionate about pursuing. \nALTASEA OPEN HOUSE \nWe will close the event with a special Intern Recognition Ceremony honoring our fall and summer interns.
