Investing in Ocean Sustainability
Join AltaSea for our upcoming webinar to celebrate Giving Tuesday, the annual “holiday” that spotlights the organizations that are positively changing the world through their work. This webinar will feature Giving Pledge philanthropist Melanie Lundquist; Los Angeles City Councilmember and President Pro Tempore of the Los Angeles City Council Joe Buscaino; and three members of AltaSea’s leadership team: CEO Tim McOsker, Founding Executive Director Jenny Krusoe, and Manager of Advancement Robin Aube.
The webinar will focus on the importance of ocean economy and sustainability incubators like AltaSea, and the importance of giving to organizations dedicated to finding 21st century solutions to some of the most pressing issues in the world today: climate change, food security, and renewable energy.

LA Times Focuses on AltaSea
AltaSea was recently featured in a full-page Los Angeles Times story about economic development investments along LA’s waterfront. In the article, Port Executive Director, Gene Seroka, stated, “Bringing people to our waterfront has been a hallmark of the Port of Los Angeles for decades, and we believe that the investment in this particular project will really bring us to the next level.”
The article called out AltaSea as “a sprawling center for new eco-friendly businesses building the ocean’s blue economy” as well as a “choice 35-acre site for a complex of pioneering tech companies focused on sustainable uses of the world’s oceans.” The LA Times also highlighted AltaSea’s partnership with the Southern California Marine Institute as well as Gensler’s inspiring architectural plans for the AltaSea campus.
The article included comments by AltaSea’s CEO Tim McOsker, including: “We have the opportunity to expand the blue economy here in the harbor area and create a future for our kids.”
